Deep White team takes part in launch of the contact tracing app “Stop Covid”

During Covid-19 crisis, Deep White team gained not only experience, but also opportunity to take part in the content development and project communication of the app “Apturi Covid” (eng. – “Stop Covid”), which is the result of collaboration of Latvian scientists and IT experts.

The contact tracing app is available to every resident of Latvia free of charge. It is created for needs of the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control to help residents to prevent the further spread of Covid-19 in safe and user-friendly manner. Without revealing identity and location of a diseased person, the app will allow to notify all its users about close contact with a diseased person, i.e. proximity of 2 meters for more than 15 minutes. The app uses Bluetooth technology and is available on both iOS and Android.

This is a special project for us – even though we are not doctors or medical workers, we still can contribute into healthcare of our society. According to epidemiologists and scientists, the use of app by only 20% of Latvia’s residents already represents a significant support in risk identification and prevention of the disease spread. In its public statement, the technology giant Apple also encouraged to use the Latvian-made app to prevent the further spread of Covid-19.

The app is developed by LMT, MakIT, Autentica, TestDevLab, IT centrs, Zippy Vision, experts of the University of Latvia, co-founder of TechHub Riga Andris K. Berzins in co-operation with Cert.lv and Data State Inspectorate, by fully complying with GDPR. The assessment of the app solution conducted by the Chancellery of the President of Latvia, the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, NATO Centre of Excellence for Strategic Communications, as well medical professionals and epidemiologists
